The previously reported LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH continued to be seen at the
feeder in Winston on Thursday, 27 September 2007. I arrived around 11:15
a.m. and left around 1:05 p.m. During that time, I saw the LAWRENCE'S
GOLDFINCH from 12:55 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The woman in the house told me it
preferred the copper topped feeder (the one that is farthest from the house)
and that it usually stayed for about 5 minutes. Indeed, both of these were
true for my visit. I also saw it in the tree just behind and above this
feeder, before it disappeared amongst the many AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES present.
A photo of the LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH (not very good, but sufficient for
documentation) and the preferred feeder is on the web at:

On a somewhat geographically related note, I came across a PALM WARBLER at
Millicoma Marsh in Coos County at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 26 September
2007. Also present was a lone, adult WHITE-TAILED KITE.
A couple of hours after high tide on Thursday afternoon at Bandon, the best
shorebird I was able to find was a lone WHIMBREL that was visible from the
picnic table near 1st & Riverside.
