OBOL:

The first Morning Birdsong Walk of the spring happened at Tualatin Hills
Nature Park (Beaverton) from 7-9 this frosty morning. 17 people turned out
in the chill to walk the trail with me.

We saw courting and nest-building COOPER'S HAWKS, and nest-building
BUSHTITS. The RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD is back in his little meadow, even though
his favorite snag perch was knocked down. We heard a calling HUTTON'S
VIREO. We saw a BROWN CREEPER. We heard the distant call of the resident
PILEATED WOODPECKER, and saw mating FLICKERS. WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHES
called from the treetops by the nature center.

The usual Winter Wrens, Bewick's Wrens, Red-breasted Nuthatches,
Black-capped Chickadees, Siskins, and PURPLE FINCHES were calling.

It was a glorious morning.

Tomorrow Gerard Lillie leads the Morning Birdsong Walk at Mt. Tabor
(Portland).

Good birding, everyone,
