Fanno, Koll, Creekside area in Beaverton
Just west of 217 Location: Creekside Seven

First heard a three note call .... that seemed to
cut through the air ... and yet be gentle at the same time.
Clear ... like a red-wing can be, but I couldn't find the source.

The sounds, dropped, but ever so slightly.
Always in a pattern of threes ... but not constant.
Two teens were "calling geese" , quite good I might add,
and once finding they were not the source, I searched further.

There on the little humps of land, where dowitchers, killdeers and ducks usually hang out, was a long legged, bright yellow legged, sandpipery type bird!
Lots of gray streaks and dots and larger than the dowitchers, at least higher!
Checking around, calling a bit more ........
it soon flew off to the north.
Because of the size, and the slight descending tone .... I think it was a GREATER YELLOWLEG. My first for this season.

Other birds: (No Canvasbacks) But yes for Cedar Waxwings and American Goldfinches.

Rest.... mostly normal for this area now:
Mallard, Cinn. Teal, GreenWng Teal, Gadwall, Wood , Ring-Necked, Scaup, Shoveler,
Bufflel, Ruddy, Am. Coot, Killdeer, Dowitcher,
Canada Goose ... many on nests, one constantly on "Oak Tree Mini Island",
Grt Bl. Heron, Red Tail Hawk (nest near),.
Red-wing Black Brd, Scrub Jay, Cedar Waxwings,
AMERICAN GOLDFINCH ... singing so, yet so hard to find in the brush!
  Wish I had a recorder!,
  Yellow-Rumps, Song Sp, Robin, Starling,
Flicker, Chickadee, Mourning Dove ... quiet and lovely.

............... Again, I am always amazed ........ and refreshed!
