Hello:
Someone very helpfully posted a notice about a recall of Morning Song
bird seed products, in which it was noted that the manufacturer of
these products is the same company that makes Miracle-Gro and other
chemical'ish stuff.
There was a reply that suggested no one should be buying bird food
products made by a huge soulless corporation like Scotts anyway.
OK. Fair enough. I have no argument with that.
But I'd just like to note that I have frequently bought Morning Song
suet products in an attempt to occasionally save some money on bird
feed. I perused the label, read the ingredients and protein analysis,
looked at the manufacturer info. There is absolutely no indication
that this product is made by Scotts or has any association with
Miracle-Gro. The ingredients, at least on the Nutty Safari suet I
buy, are natural. No "berry flavorings" or other processed foods that
I've seen in other suet products.
The label says, and I'm reading from the one Morning Song suet I
have, "Manufactured by Gutwein & Co." (Or, "Fabrique per..." Quite a
bit of the label is in French, actually.) Then it gives a street
address in Indiana.
So, it can be hard to know who you are doing business with, even when
you're a careful label reader.
I do appreciate the original notice about the recall, however. I
never would have known about it if not for OBOL.
