OBOLees,

Thanks for the help figuring out what that bird is.

It seems to be known as a Curtailed Flycatcher or  Bow-wow Jay.  Its Latin name 
is Empidonax itiderodeii.  Rare Oregon sightings are made on April 1st.  There 
is some discussion as to whether this is a vagrant bird or a pet unleashed by an 
imprudent owner.

I was advised that if you see one in your neighborhood, take extra precautions 
when visiting your grandmother.  Avoid wearing a red hoody and carrying a picnic 
basket, especially if she lives in the woods.

I'm so glad I got a picture of the bird.  It would have been hard to describe 
and perhaps unbelievable.
