[obol] yellow rail search

A place that I have heard, but never seen the Yellow rail is behind the Fort Klamath Cemetery. As you travel from Chiloquin to Fort Klamath, you break out of the tree lined road and have a large expanse of pasture/field on the left. There is (or was) a muesum at this point at one time. There is sweeping curve to the left and then the cemetry. On the curve is an historical monument. I have used a rail call at this point in the daylight hours and gotten answers. I have called from the very back of the cemetery at night and have received answers.

A previous post mentioned mile post 7 on the Silver Lake hwy. This is a great year for water and any field from the beginning of the National Wildlife Refuge that hold some water will be able to have rails.

Good birding and bird finding !!

I am planning a trip to Klamath Basin this May or June to try for the yellow rail. Does anyone have any suggestions, tips, or locations to help with my efforts?

  Thanks, Spencer Platt
