Hello,
Recently a new breeding Island has been built at Fern Ridge
Wildlife Area, as anyone who spends time out there surely noticed. We are trying to
entice terns to nest there with a social attraction setup consisting of decoys
and sound recordings should any birds show up. Any observations of Caspian terns would be greatly
appreciated, especially if any birds are seen in the vicinity of the new
Island. We'd also like to note use by gulls, pelicans, or any other critter using the island including humans (people need permission for entry, all others can enter at will). For those unaware it is at the west end of Royal Ave and will become increasingly isolated as the water rises. Feel free to post to the list or email me directly.
Thanks
Dan
