This morning I took advantage of the glorious weather and birded the Fir
Butte section of Fern Ridge, entering from HWY 126. The NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD was hanging out in the spot in which it was previously
reported--at the bend of the road leading up to Fir Butte (just to the south
of the butte) and to the west in the bushes across from the marsh.
Very birdy, ducky, and goosey (about a 1.000 CACKLERS kept flying between
the Fir Butte area and E. Coyote) this morning.
The air was full of song....
highlights included and PEREGRINE FALCON shooting right beside me like a big
grey fist--causing a mass of ducks to go airborne.
2 DUSKY GEESE
Lots of singing sparrows: SONG, WHITE-CROWNED, GOLDEN-CROWNED, and
SAVANNAH.
a WILSON'S SNIPE
2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS
male and female N.HARRIER
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER (E.Coyote Unit)
JUVENILE BALD EAGLE which was doing a lot of hanging out in the area
a possible MERLIN but pretty far off for a positive ID
OSPREY
all the usual suspects
