An early morning walk at Pacific U. turned up 2 CHIPPING SPARROWS, Audubon's
and orange-warblers, American and lesser goldfinches, bush tits, house
finches, Anna's humming bird, pine siskin, acorn woodpeckers, red-shafted
flicker, robins, startlings, Cooper's hawk, turkey vulture.

Yesterday at Killin: SWAINSON'S THRUSH, BLUE-WINGED TEAL. More, but I'm to
Killin again now and will report later today.

". . . a birdless world, the air permanently fallow, is unthinkable. To be
without birds would be to suffer a kind of color-blindness, a glaucoma
gauzing over one of the planet's special brightnesses... there exist few
everyday necessities in my life, but birds are among them." Ivan Doig,
