Tom,
There is a software program called birdjam that will allow you to download
the Stokes CDs onto your ipod without the words and will organize the birds
alphabetically or phylogenetically or in different habitat groups, etc..
More info is at: <http://www.birdjam.com> www.birdjam.com I am really
enjoying using it. I also got some small speakers to go with the ipod.

Subject: [obol] Fw: [OBOL] Tech question

I am in the process of making the jump from casette audio tapes to an ipod.
Since I can't fit the casettes in any of the tiny little connectors on the
iPod, I guess I'll have to download files the conventional way. My question
is, what are the best CD's for downloading? I have heard that some are
really good and easy to use and others are quite difficult. The Peterson
CD's that I have (Green Jay/Common Loon covers) have multiple species per
track, which, I think would making locating individual species hard to find.
Are there CDs that have just the bird call and not a voice over
announcement? Are there any other considerations I should be aware of in
downloading/usage of mp3's as opposed to the old casette method (I am well
aware of the ethical use of recordings concerns).

Thanks,
