AMERICAN PIPIT ... seen in small neighborhood park, near BLUE LAKE,
called NORTH LAKE SHORE PARK.
Just a little neighborhood park, three spaces to park.
The American pipit almost looked like a robin at first.
My friend Fred and I watched it quite awhile.
It walked
differently and we thought at first it was a young robin hurt. Then
we noticed that the young spots were more
like faint little streaks. (Not to mention that it is early yet for
baby robins)
The head markings made me think of a
female Varied Thrush .... but it was much lighter,
softer looking.
It seemed almost "tame" when it slowly walked.
When it finally flew, I saw the slightest bit of
white outer tail feathers.
