Today in my yard I found a CHIPPING SPARROW in fully bright seasonal
plumage, ready for action. Also, two LINCOLN'S SPARROWS were feeding
on the ground with about 9 GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS and several
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS.
The two Lincoln's Sparrows were quite different. One was bright, with
a nice black central breast blotch, and the other was pale with no
central breast blotch of any kind. I see Lincoln's Sparrow very
infrequently here. Both gambelli and pugetensis were represented
among the White-crowned Sparrows.
BUSHTITS have been working on a nest in the weeping willow tree.
