At Sallys Bend this afternoon there were 17 Whimbrels
and a flock of about 35-40 peeps too far out to
identify to spp but mostly Western/Least sized with a
few Dunlin sized mixed in.
At Yaquina Head the murres were on and off the rocks
several times with an adult eagle scouting
about...there doesn't seem to be as many this year as
last but they are still intent on colonizing Lion's
Head. The Pelagic Cormorants have built nests,
especially in Trespass Cove, but the Western Gulls
haven't made much progress yet....in fact, there
doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much courtship
this year.
