Roger in Eugene asked me to send a notice to the list about test posts.

If you need to see if you can post to the list a regular post about  
birding serves the same purpose.

of having a notice sent to the list that not everybody needs to 'test' the
list?

If they want to see if they can post, a normal post to the list serves the
same purpose.  It seems that 90% of the 'test' posts are from some of the
more prolific posters.
