North Spit of Coos Bay, 1/28/2008:
1- PALM WARBLER (overwintering bird seems to be
surviving the cold wet weather just fine)
5- REDHEADS (up from 2 since 1/23)

North Spit of Coos Bay, 1/31:
1- NORTHERN SHRIKE- the first one reported this entire
winter on the south coast as far as I know. There
were some migrants last fall, but none seem to have
wintered (not sure about the Florence area though,
none reported on their CBC?)

Johnson Mill Pond, Coquille Valley, 2/1:
1- ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER (probably the same bird I
was unsure about the ID on the other day)
1- TURKEY VULTURE (it's spring on the south coast- a
bit cooler than usual though!)

Myrtle Point Marsh, 2/1:
6- BARN SWALLOWS (still around)
4- TREE SWALLOWS (the Tree Swallows seen here on
1/26/08 were the earliest "spring" arrivals I know of
other than a few December & early January winter
records)

That's it- the soggyness continues...
