[obol] Willamette Valley Barred Owl

There was a Barred Owl calling "who cooks for you" behind my house 30
minutes ago. I heard it from the bathroom, while taking a break from
watching Braveheart, and enjoying a little home made plum wine. At first I
was thinking, "how nice, a Great Horned Owl calling" but then it called
again, and I thought, no, that's not. So I ran upstairs, and got the little
voice recorder, returned to the bathroom window, and recorded two calls, a
very clear, "Who Cooks For You". I called Bill Thackaberry, who came right
over, but we sat on the deck for a while, but it did not call again.

 

It is not that hard to get in Linn County in the mountains, but more unusual
for the valley. It seemed to be coming from behind the house, where there is
oak-fir woodland. Further back in the woods there is thicker fir woods, but
this seems an unusual habitat.
