I recently bought "The Complete Guide To Antarctic Wildlife: Birds and
Marine Mammals of the Antarctic Continent and the Southern Ocean, Second
Ed." (H. Shirihai).
This is one of the most impressive books I have ever seen. Incredible
photos and illustrations. I want some of the photos just to frame.
Since some of the seabirds included have occurred or might occur off Oregon,
it has some use for Oregon birders.
I am planning a cruise from Chile to Argentina (with a stop in the
Falklands). (That 12 day trip costs about $1,100. This book is
indispensable for the trip I am planning. It even has bird lists with
relative abundance for areas that the ship will visit.)
The list price for this superb book is $55.00. I got it for about $34.65
from Amazon.com. No cost for shipping. It has very good paper, binding,
and color, and is hard bound. Just an amazing book.
