There also were two SWAMP SPARROWS near the shelter at the end of the boardwalk. I first saw bird #1 just before Carol and Paul arrived, but wasn't able to call it then. Not being satisfied, I returned about half an hour later and confirmed the ID on bird #1. This bird was calling. I refound it past the dike trail on a little island just offshore. Viewed from the shelter, this island is just about 25yds in direction Eagle Marsh. I got scratched up pretty good, bushwacking through the blackberry thickets from the shelter. And yes, that's what you get for trespassing - tear my head off if you must. Later after a rain shower, Mike Marsh and I had a second bird that had much more (unusally fine, yet limited) streaking on the sides than bird #1. This had me tripped up again, even though it also was calling.

Eagle Marsh, S of kiosk -- RED-SHOULDERED HAWK
Wintel Rd. pullout W of RR -- 1 beautiful adult PEREGRINE FALCON
                                            -- 12 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS
Egret ponds kiosk -- RED-SHOULDERED HAWK
Rail Trail viewpoint off Wintel Rd. -- RED-SHOULDERED HAWK (same?)
Rail Trail, far end of boardwalk -- BLACK PHOEBE
