Obol,
Wednesday morning birders went east of town today.
We were delighted to have new people in the group, John
Martin and also Veronica Krueger.Veronica showed us
her nice 10 acres with good habitat where she has recently
photographed a Bohemian Waxwing in with Cedars ( not
today ) and had a Northern Pygmy owl (not today). We
then spent the rest of our morning around the Alfalfa area
checking out ag fields.

Birds seen (in taxonomic order):
Canada Goose
Mallard - fly over - NO open water anywhere
Hooded Merganser - on the river in Bend as we left town
Great Blue Heron
Northern Harrier - 1 male
Unidentified Accipiter - poss Northern GOSHAWK, back
portion of Veronica's property.
Red-tailed Hawk - 10-12, some pairs, one carrying a stick.
Rough-legged Hawk - 1, beautiful, Alfalfa
American Kestrel - mult single birds 6 or 7 all told
Rock Dove
Mourning Dove - a home with feeding station had 100+
Northern Flicker
Steller's Jay
Western Scrub-Jay
Black-billed Magpie
Common Raven
Horned Lark - several small flocks in the field just east of
the Alfalfa store
*American Pipit - 2, seen only by Judy, with " Horned Larks.
Mountain Chickadee
Townsend's Solitaire
American Robin
European Starling
*Yellow-rumped Warbler - one off Dodds Rd, seen only by
John Martin - likely area etc
Song Sparrow
Dark-eyed Junco
Red-winged Blackbird - it is spring! Singing red-wings!
Western Meadowlark - mult birds, same field w Horned Larks etc.
Brewer's Blackbird
House Finch
House Sparrow
total = 30 species.
Birders today were Howard Horvath, Mike Golden,
John Martin, Sheran Wright, Don Sutherland, Cort Vaughan,
Veronica Krueger ( thanks) and Judy Meredith.
