Thanks to everybody who responded to my questions about angled v. straight
spotting scopes. After a bunch of research, I decided on the 65mm angled
Zeiss Diascope with FL glass (the only way Zeiss's come). I was able to get
a new one with Lotutec coatings for $20 more than the old model. Browsing
the "Alaska Outdoors Forum" on outdoor optics, I stumbled onto a sale of
Demos a Camera Land in New York. By mentioning that I saw the ad there, I
got free shipping on it. I really liked the HD Swarovski, but couldn't
justify it costing $900 more. Here are the Diascopes Camera Land has on
sale.

 Diascope Spotting Scopes with Lotutec:
528044 65 T* FL Straight Green - Demo $1049.99
528052 65 T* FL Angled Silver - Demo $1049.99
528054 65 T* FL Angled Green - Demo $1049.99
528043 85 T* FL Straight Silver - Demo $1369.99
528045 85 T* FL Straight Green - Demo $1369.99
528053 85 T* FL Angled Silver - Demo $1369.99
528055 85 T* FL Angled Green - Demo $1369.99
528061 Variable Eyepiece 15x45/20x60 - Demo $399.99

Today I got notice that they got a bunch of Leica Televids on sale (used,
but certified).

#40113 Televid 62 Straight Rubber Armored with #41012 16-48x Zoom Eyepiece
only $999.99
#40114 APO-Televid 62 Straight Rubber Armored with #41012 16-48x Zoom
Eyepiece only $1349.99
These come with a Leica USA 10 Year Warranty and are in excellent condition.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get a fantastic spotting scope for a very
reduced price.

Since Leica is coming out with a new spotting scope this summer, they likely
will have a number of the old Televid 62's for sale.

I can highly recommend Doug at Camera Land. I placed my order and got the
scope within two days - quite unusual from my experience. Anyway, if you
are interested, this is his contact information. Doug @ Camera Land,

Closer to home, Sportsman's Warehouse has a customer appreciation week,
where most everything is 10% off. Of course optics aren't included, but
they are 5% off, so it is one way to get a discount on a Swarovski.

Also, for the creative, [G. I.] Joes will give a 10% discount on the first
item you buy if you apply for a Joe's credit card. That does apply to
scopes. Unfortunately, all they carry in store is the 65mm 20x60 regular
glass, straight eyepiece scope. But at $1539 for the package before the
$150 discount, that is as good a deal as you can get. They have others
online, but none include eyepieces and they are at the standard price you
see everywhere else.
