[obol] Fern Ridge bike and bird

I biked along the Fern Ridge bike path to the Royal Ave end of the Fern
Ridge Wildlife Refuge this afternoon.  Several active small flocks of
AUDUBON YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS  were busily fly-catching along the bike path
and at the refuge.  I saw a mostly sun-bathing clump of DUNLIN and
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS in a pond near the corner of Greenhill and Royal,
along with several GREEN-WINGED TEAL NORTHERN SHOVELERS, and PINTAIL.  The
refuge was filled with the singing of MARSH WRENS.  I saw 4 TUNDRA SWANS
northwest of the observation platform.  6 RUDDY DUCKS were swimming among
the COOTS.  On my way home, near dusk back on the bike path, just east of
the Greenhill/Royal intersection, I ran into another biker/birder, named
Dave Clark, who pointed out a SHORT-EARED OWL perched on a snag, which it
kept returning to after swooping low over the prairie.  Lots of singing
MEADOWLARKS.  Dave Clark also reported seeing a SHRIKE and an AMERICAN PIPIT
just before I met up with him.
