Great Back Yard Bird Count counters and lurkers:


The following entries have been tentatively flagged as invalid and
will not be used in any analysis or compilation unless I get further
details as
to their veracity. This does NOT mean the birds in question were not
seen, only that they are exceptional for the area or numbers of
individuals indicated.
Some no doubt are correct or could be correct (e.g. Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker in Salem, Blue Jay in Eugene) and some are no doubt rookie
identification errors
or typos (e.g. numerous California Towhees North of SW Oregon); Some
are obvious mistakes though likely innocent enough (e.g. 325 Western
Gulls in Portland).

Unless I receive a note from the observer or other observers who know
that the birds are known to be in the area at this time, their status
will remain "invalid," and while
they will remain in perpetuity in the database, they will not be used
in most analyses. the AMERICAN BLACK DUCK in Hillsboro is certainly
intriguing.

Please make reference to your individual sitings by submission number
