I made a quick, work oriented trip
to Sauvie Island this morning. The 1000
Snow Geese mentioned in the previous posting
were in the field just west of Reeder Beach
Store at 10am, and right next to the road.
I've never been so close to Snow Geese on the
island before. Despite a tight schedule I couldn't
resist scanning the flock. Right away I found a
blue morph bird, presumably the same one mentioned
in several postings this winter. A first for me
in Oregon. I looked fairly hard for Ross' Geese
and found none.
Returning an hour later the geese had moved.
Sandhill Cranes were readily evident overhead at
milepost 7. Lars Norgren
