OBOLites:

A birder friend of mine from California is going to be in the Portland
area this weekend. Actually, he will be staying in Newberg. He'd like
some advice on finding some target birds as well as where to maximize his
time up here.

Could some of you with more familiarity with what's currently around
advise Chris? His email address is ctaylor at kiwifoto.com, or you could
send your suggestions to me at tc at empnet.com .

Thanks!

Hey Tom,
If you recall, I'll be visiting the Portland/Willamette Valley area this
4th of July weekend. Unfortunately I won't have much time to do any
photography/birding but I'm going to try and escape in the mornings to
areas that are relatively close to Willamette (we'll be staying in
Newberg).

These are some of the target birds/areas that caught my eye but having a
hard time figuring out what is nearby and "do-able" with the timeframe I
have. I guess my biggest target bird would have to be Gray Jay but are any
of the following places I should definitely target or did I miss any
locations that may be good for the same species closer to Willamette?

Washington Cnty Wetlands - Jackson Bottom Wetland Preserve (p.60)
        * Black-headed Grosbeak
