[obol] July 3 morning at Sauvie Island

Yesterday I birded Sauvie Island from 7-11:30 AM.  Of note was a  
summering male Blue-winged Teal and 3 male Ring-necked Ducks at the  
Reeder Road viewing platform.  The gull flock was flying west towards  
the coast.  The Oak Island Bald Eagle nest (at n end of island) had  
two juveniles and an adult sitting in the nest tree, next to the Great  
Blue Heron Rookery. Hoping to find some shorebird edge somewhere I  
walked into Racetrack Lake, but there was none.  Rentenaar Road had  
only a small  puddle that was devoid of any birds.

BTW, the mosquitos are out in force.

Notes:     First 2.5 hours spent at Oak Island first doing point-count  
down interior of island, then slowly walking out.  2nd went to  
Rentenaar Rd (almost all dry); walked into Racetrack Lake; Reed Road  
Viewing Platform.  Tons of mosquitos.
