While walking in the new clearcut south
of our house this morning(7/6) I encountered
a family of newly fledged Western Bluebirds.
This is the first time I have seen Bluebirds
in our neighborhood in June. I attributed it
to the new habitat, the haunts of Sooty Grouse
only a year ago.
But now it occurs to me that extensive snow
pack in the COAST RANGE as well as the Cascades
has rendered some bluebird habitat unsuitable
for nesting. Lars Norgren, Manning (Washington
County)
