North Spit of Coos Bay, PM, sunny, 60's, winds to 40mph:
For the 4th time in the last five years, WILSON'S PHALAROPES have successfully fledged young. I saw at least 4 juvies around.
Also present were 44 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 5 LEAST SANDPIPERS, and 5 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.
I was working down on the Curry coast near Gold Beach in the AM, it was hot down there, in the 80's on the beach. As soon as I got to Port Orford the temps fall back into the 60's. Brookings has had some brutal heat the past few days, hopefully Don Munson will survive the onslaught. It got up to 108 there yesterday, and when I checked the weather a while ago it was 89 there at 4AM this morning...
ENJOY all!
