This morning at Smith-Bybee there was a male REDHEAD on Smith Lake. Though
I didn't stop at nearby Force Lake today, last week there were 5 male
REDHEADS there. There is also an interesting, and I think very positive,
enhancement of the habitat with the placement of several "rafts" on the
lakes. These appear to be anchored large logs which today were occupied by
RING-BILLED GULLS, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, and CANADA GEESE.
At Vanport, the water level has dropped significantly and now there is good
shorebird habitat. There were 13 DOWITCHERS, presumably all LONG-BILLED,
along with KILLDEER..
