At about 7 pm today, July 18, I was parked at the pull-out overlooking 
the main pond at the Alexandre Dairy in Del Norte County, when a small 
falcon came flying by. I was first alerted to the presence of the bird 
by the calls it made during flight. The calls sounded somewhat like 
"keet" and were made repeatedly during it's flight. The bird flew fast 
and struck me as having very long, narrow wings. It landed on a snag in 
a dead tree south of the pond and during fairly brief scope views, I 
noticed it had white cheeks, a white throat, a black cap and a narrow 
black malar stripe, a narrow white line above the eye and a dark back. I 
could not see the lower part of the bird as it was hidden behind another 
tree limb. after a few minutes the bird flew off along the trees 
bordering the creek there and I lost sight of it and could not relocate 
it. I am fairly certain that this was an Eurasian Hobby, which is pretty 
outrageous, but not impossible. I hope that it will be refound, and 
perhaps this may encourage people to go try to find it.
