Well, with the big 600/4 I've used for years with my 35mm bird  
photography, most birds are very aware of the lens, even from a  
blind.  My notion is that it often looks like a BIG EYE to them, and  
birds and many other creatures normally don't like being watched, if  
they're aware of it.
