This time of year, I often see Cedar Waxwings hawking insects from cottonwood trees along rivers. But today, one made a thorough sweep of the trees and shrubs in my yard and appeared to have plucked all the spiders out of their webs. It often hovered in front of a big web and moved in slowly, before snapping up its unlucky resident. It was also scooting along tree branches and finding lots of other things to grab.
