OBOL,

a Klamath County birder posted the question below, locally, and I'm interested in getting feedback from people who live in the area. So, I'm forwarding the question to OBOL. Any Coos Bay locals out there? input out there would be appreciated. I think White-headed Woodpeckers are rare anytime away from eastside pine habitat. But I don't know if they move around much. Maybe they do. I'm not at home, so can't go to my references. Thanks.

> I have a question and a couple of observations. How likely is it to see a white-headed woodpecker on the Oregon coast this time of year? In the late afternoon of July 17 I saw one fly from North to South over the checkin station to Sunset Beach State Park (just south of Coos Bay). I was facing East and the bird was about 50 to 75 yards away. I clearly saw a woodpecker with a white head and white patches on the beating wings.
