I went to Boiler Bay today (7/31) and looked as Floyd indicated. There is a pair of BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS with two chicks there. The chicks were in a crack in the rocks and at first looked like a couple of small rocks until a parent came with food and they moved.
If you go I suggest looking west from the jog in the fence just south of the main open area that leads out to the point (the jog has a picnic table in it). The parents were readily apparent. At the time we were there the sun was shining into the crevice.
I have posted a photo on Flickr at

Thanks Floyd, your post made it easy!

Subject: [obol] Oystercatcher nesting late?
Today (7-30-08) I was at Boiler Bay (Lincoln Co.) with some non-birders and observed a Black Oystercatcher pair behaving like nesting birds, even though anytime in July would seem to be much too late, not to mention the END of July. The bird that appeared to be sheltering or incubating something was "stuck" to the ground between some boulders about 50 ft. from the curb near the south end of the parking area. If you knew where to look, I think you could see the spot without getting out of your vehicle. I'm wondering if a first nesting attempt might have failed, so this pair is trying again.
Unfortunately, because of the company I was keeping today, I could not stay to wait for a sight of whatever was under that bird. I hope another birder might be able to stop there in the next few days and check it out. Of course, this might be old news, too, so perhaps those who are monitoring Oystercatchers this summer have already been watching this pair. For anyone planning to stop in at Boiler Bay, my photo at http://empids.blogspot.com/ might be helpful in finding the slot between the rocks.
