The issue of breakins and how to cope with them at popular birding  
sites is on-topic.

Discussion of "liberal" vs. "conservative" approaches to "social  
issues" is not.

Unless the rules of the list have changed drastically since those  
years when even discussing CONSERVATION POLITICS DIRECTLY RELATED TO  
THE FUTURE HEALTH OF BIRD POPULATIONS was screamed down as being "not  
appropriate"...
