Best bird on 5/31 out on the north spit was a
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW seen on a fenceline at the end of
the road. That's the 3rd late May/early June record
for Coos Co. I know Curry has at least two records
from the same period also. Nice bird! Also, earlier
in the day I saw a BANK SWALLOW at New River, rare but
regular in the spring migration in Coos Co.

On 5/30 there was a late MARBLED GODWIT with 11
Whimbrel at Bandon Marsh.

Ducks still around on the north spit of Coos Bay on
5/31 included all three species of teal, Gadwall,
Ring-necked Duck, and shoveler. Of course all these
species have bred there before so we'll see what
happens. Also lingering are 7 Bufflehead, 7 Greater
Scaup, an American Wigeon, and 2 Brant. Looks like the
Wilson's Phalarope will breed out there again also-
peak count in May for them was 14. Shorebird wise I
had 4 LB Dowitcher, 2 Semipalmated Plovers, and a G.
Yellowlegs out there on the 30th.

Merry migration!
