Hi Dave and Kathy,

A friend and I were talking yesterday about the lack of hummingbirds in the garden the last couple of weeks.

The week before last, 05/18 through 05/24, the feeders went almost untouched. The week of 05/25-05/31 the feeders are almost empty, but I've seen very few hummingbirds. The hummingbirds I saw this morning are female Rufous, an adult male and female Anna's. There is also a Black-capped Chickadee with a sweet tooth that uses the hummingbird feeder.

I wonder if the lack of hummingbirds is because the migrants have moved through and the birds that nest locally are being secretive because they are nesting. I'm trying to recall, it seems like I don't see many juvenile hummingbirds until late June or early July.
