OBOL:

Carol & I saw 2-3 broods of HOODED MERGANSERS at the shallow south end of
McGuire Reservoir, west of Carlton in Yamhill county on Sat. May 31. The
youngest were fist-size, the oldest almost full grown. There was also an
adult BALD EAGLE across the reservoir.

We heard PILEATED WOODPECKER, PYGMY OWL, RED CROSSBILLS, GRAY JAYS and
MOUNTAIN QUAIL at one location each.

We found YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS on both Thompson Mill Rd. and Eagle Point
Rds. Carol saw the regular chat on Muddy Valley Rd. the day before. We
also found one on Moore's Valley Rd. 2 weeks ago.

Legions of EVENING GROSBEAKS were everywhere on our route.

We struck out on our quest for grouse.
