Unfortunately, I did not have a camera out and ready when the bird glided 
over.  My sighting was about 15 seconds of a bird gliding overhead.  My ID 
was based on "jizz" and tail pattern.

First inspection revealed a dark morph buteo gliding overhead.  Distance is 
hard to judge above, but I'd say about 300-400 ft.  There were no 
discernable patagial markers or belly band.  I didn't notice if the bases of 
the primaries were banded or not, as I focused on the tail pattern.  It was 
whitish at the base and diffused into a darker band towards the outer half 
of the tail.  The outer band had reddish tones.  I didn't notice if the bird 
had any white streaking on the breast.  I was only able to observe the bird 
from below in a glide.  The bird never flapped nor soared, but my first and 
last impression was a Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk.
