After the Big Heat Wave, migration thru yard ceased until early this past week: Tue (05/27) SWAINSON'S THRUSH (prob 2). Spent much of day picking thru leaf litter in shade garden which Varied Thrushes favor in winter. One/two SWTH annually, evenly divided spring/fall, usually don't linger to forage. Wed (05/28) WILSON'S WARBLER (M, 2) in clump of weepy birches they prefer almost exclusively over other shrubs/trees in yard. Fri (05/30) WIWA (M) and WESTERN WOOD-PEEWEE in birches. WESTERN TANAGER (F) in holly tree with a few CEDAR WAXWINGS. Sat (05/31) WILLOW FLYCATCHER flying along row of medium-ht firs/cedars bordering lane, mid-level. Paused a few times to perch briefly on boughs or to snatch something while on the wing from under boughs. One or two annually, almost always either in conifer hedge, or appropriately, fly-catching from tall pussy-wallow nearby. Sun (06/01) am another WETA (M, soggy) with a few waxwings (soggy) in the holly tree. Miserable looking bunch. pm WIWA (F) in birches. Sun, previous wk (05/25) Adult BALD EAGLE drifting south in big easy circles, fairly low. Only third seen from here, but second this year.
