>From looking at the photos, it appears to me at least that the primary flight feathers and coverts are pretty brownish. Even the secondaries appear brownish. Perhaps Jim can verify this. With all that brown in the flight feathers, the bird would be last year's fledgling (Second Year, SY). It seems a lot of SY birds, especially males, drift around going in to there first breeding season.

Alan Contreras kindly posted two of my photos of the Eastern Towhee on his weblog.
I now believe that this is the second report of an Eastern Towhee in Oregon, although the first report in 2005 was not accepted by the OBRC.
As far as I can tell, this would be the first record for Oregon if accepted by the OBRC. There are two accepted records in both Arizona and Idaho. There are no records for California, Washington or Nevada. It is a review species in New Mexico and Colorado.
