OBOL:
This morning I visited Tualatin River NWR 7:15-8:45. I was prompted by
sightings of Ron Spencer yesterday. I walked in on the main E-W dike.
I found the BONAPARTE'S GULL and the female YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD Ron
reported. In addition, there were 5 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, various ducks, Gt.
Blue Herons, etc.
Shorebirds included multiple Killdeer and Spotted Sandpipers. I saw both
sexes of WILSON'S PHALAROPES; perhaps they are nesting.
Swallows included Barn, Cliff, Tree, and Violet-green. I also saw a couple
Vaux Swifts.
As I was walking out the local male LAZULI BUNTING was singing on the
saplings south of the dike.
Driving to work, a GREEN HERON crossed Tualatin-Sherwood Rd.
Good birding, everyone,
Paul T. Sullivan
