The Woodpecker Wonderland Festival is in full swing and so far, it seems to
be great. We've had some good birds (3-toad WP, Black-backed Woodpecker,
all the other expected woodpeckers except Pileated, Sooty Grouse, Mountain
Quail, Clark's Grebe, Barrow's Goldeneye, Gray Jay, Cassin's Finch, Cassin's
Vireo, Veery, and lots more.). It turns out that locals have informed us
that there has been a SUMMER TANAGER in Camp Sherman since Memorial Day
weekend. It's a bright red male and can be found by walking the trail north
of the bridge at Camp Sherman. The bird has been seen by multiple groups of
people on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We'll be looking again tomorrow.
You should plan on attending the Woodpecker Wonderland Festival next year.
It's been a lot of fun.
