[obol] Red Knot news

Wow! Something done right for a change!

One of the great moments of my life as a teenager was seeing the
thousands and thousands of Red Knots along the beaches of Delaware Bay,
just northwest of Cape May. It was a sight to see. The last time I
went down there before moving to OR, the difference in bird population
was shocking.

I have watched the decline of both horseshoe crabs and red knots for
many years in NJ and it was very disheartening, to say the least. All
my life we had horsecrabs in our estuary but they had virtually
disappeared by the time I moved.

I am so thrilled to hear that the ban on taking horseshoe crabs is
semi-permanent.

One for the good guys!
