[obol] Birding in SE Portland today

I walked Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden today. The summer's waterfowl
variety can't hold a candle to winter's (though two weeks ago I did see a
male RUDDY DUCK there, my first and only!), but that was more than made up
for seeing my first GREEN HERON ever flying over the water today. Other
highlights include flocks of CEDAR WAXWINGS out in force, along with many
active NORTHERN FLICKERS (at least 6!) and multiple WESTERN WOOD-PEWEES,
which I hadn't seen there before. Two CACKLING GEESE were lurking amongst
the many Canada Geese along with a pair of PIED-BILLED GREBES. I also
stopped by Tideman Johnson Park on SE 37th and Tenino, where ANNA'S
HUMMINGBIRDS were doing some spectacular displays and singing and STELLER'S
JAYS kept mobbing a hawk I was unfortunately unable to ID. A pair of
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS were out and about as well, making for a nice little
morning.
