We spent the day on the lane county coast with good results.
Starting at Siltcoos outlet, we walked outside the nesting boundary
ropes and easily located at least a dozen SNOWY PLOVERS. Over the
ocean were traveling BROWN PELICANS and many SOOTY SHEARWATERS.
Next stop was Heceta Head Lighthouse where after 20 minutes of
looking we were rewarded with a TUFTED PUFFIN standing on the ocean
side rock NW of the lighthouse. It even posed for some photos.
Moving on north we found a WHIMBREL on the beach just past the new
bridge work at Rock Creek.
All in all a very good day at the coast.
