On 15 June there was still a single RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE hanging out on the north spit of Coos Bay.
The earliest "fall" arrival record for this species is
24 June in Coos (this bird has been around for at
least a week though and is obviously a non-breeder).
Also a few Bufflehead are still hanging around.
On my recent BBS route in SE Coos County and NW Curry
County on the Siskiyou NF I had 8 NASHVILLE WARBLERS(3
in Coos and 5 in Curry). Nashville Warblers have
traditional been found mostly near Mt. Bolivar in the
far SE corner of Coos County but they can be found
elsewhere in the southern end of the county above
about 2,000' in the right habitat (this area is more
similar vegetation wise to the Klamath Mtn. provinence
than to Coast Range provinence). Anyhow, I've never
heard or seen Nashville's further north in the Coast
Range portion of Coos Co.
Summer is upon us- ENJOY!
