[obol] Newport: Semipalmated Plovers

Hi,

   This morning (June 17), Janet Lamberson saw 12 or more WHIMBRELS that
customarily oversummer between spring and fall migration starting in a
few weeks as nonbreeders at Idaho Flats, east of the OSU Hatfield
Marine Science Center.

   This morning, Janet also saw 4 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS at Idaho Flats. 
They are rare in June in Lincoln County.  The first "fall" migrants
have sometimes appeared during the first week in July (semimonthly
Lincoln Co. bird records through 1992 for each species are at
ScholarsArchive at OSU [http://hdl.handle.net/1957/8070]).
