WESTERN BLUEBIRDS appeared east of town today, and are fairly frequent on
fence posts along Greenhouse and Hotchkiss Lanes. KILLDEER got abundant very
quickly over the past week, as did WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. I saw my first real
flock of SNOW GEESE today along Hotchkiss Lane. MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS are now
common around the county. I saw a BLAK-CAPPED CHICKADEE today along highway 205 at
the intersection of Hotchkiss Lane, alone in a wildrose hedge.

On Thursday, Lower Borax Lake Reservoir was full of waterfowl, including
SNOW GEESE, CANADA GEESE, PINTAILS, BUFFLEHEAD, REDHEAD, RUDDY DUCKS, MALLARDS
and COMMON GOLDENEYE.

Fields are beginning to flood east of town, although snow is till deep in
places. This should be good water year around Burns and hines, provided we don't
get rain-on-snow to melt it all too fast. It is balmy and drying-out fast on
the Alvord Playa.
