At about 3 p.m. today I drove east to west on Colville Road at Baskett Slough NWR on the way home from a Corvallis volkswalk and found what I believe to be a first winter Northern Shrike, first on a wire a short distance past the water and then on and in the vegetation below on the south side of the road.
