I started to send this out as a Ross's Gull in the header, then caught the typo...whew.

Ankeny NWR 10 miles south of Salem: This afternoon I saw a nicely plumaged ROSS'S GOOSE with 3 SNOW GEESE in a small field along Buena Vista Road near the end of Sidney Road, if you were coming down Sidney Road to Buena Vista Rd. you'd turn right then look left immediately. There were also a dozen or so Canada Geese there, I didn't really look at them so can't say for sure, but I think Duskies. This was about 2 PM this afternoon (Sunday).

I haven't seen Ross's Goose whith Snow Goose in a long, long while, and I was surprised at the side by side difference between the two species in size, bill (blue color in part, stubby length, shape) head shape, color (much cleaner white than SNGO, esp. on head) and overall dainty appearance compared to SNGO. Both other species of goose kept the ROGO at a distance, so it was a bit outside the small flock most of the time.

No swallows.
